Referring to my Despatch No. 377

of the 21st. October, 1904, reporting the reduction of Mr.

E. Dougherty's salary on account of certain charges of

drunkenness that were found proved against him, I have the

honour to inform you that further charges of a similar

nature were brought against this Officer by the Director

of Public Works on the 14th. instant.

I enclose copies of these charges,

of Mr. Dougherty's reply to them and an extract of the

Minutes of the Meeting of the Executive Council held on the

26th. instant at which the Council unanimously recommended

that Mr. Dougherty should be suspended from Office.

3.

I concur in this recommendation

and have now to ask your approval and confirmation of Mr.

Dougherty's suspension from the 26th. instant.
